James Conlon will substitute for Christoph Eschenbach at the Ravinia Festival on July 28 and July 29, leading the CSO in two programs.
On July 28, Mr. Conlon will conduct Mendelssohn’s “Italian” Symphony and Violin Concerto with soloist Ray Chen, Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915 with soprano Marisol Montalvo, and Mozart’s “L’amerò sarò costante” for soprano and violin, featuring both Ms. Montalvo and Mr. Chen.
On July 29, the program will feature violinist Itzhak Perlman performing his “Cinema Serenade,” a collection of film score compositions and arrangements by John Williams—including the theme from Schindler’s List, which Perlman played on the original film soundtrack—along with Dvořák’s Carnival Overture and Symphony No. 8.
