LA Opera 2020-21 Season Recently Announced

LA Opera just announced their 2020-21 season, which features four productions led by Richard Seaver Music Director James Conlon. Continuing a life-long passion for the music of Verdi, Conlon conducts both Il Trovatore (opening the season Sept 26 – Oct 18) and Aida (May 15 – June 5) in addition to Wagner’s Tannhäuser (Oct 17 – Nov 7) and Don Giovanni by Mozart (Jan 30 – Feb 21). Il Trovatore features superstar Angel Blue leading world-class cast with Gregory Kunde, Ekaterina Semenchuk (Sep 26-Oct 10), Raehann Bryce-Davis (Oct 15-18), Vladimir Stoyanov, and Morris Robinson in a production directed by Francisco Negrin.

Tannhäuser stars fast-rising and incredible heldentenor Issachah Savage in the title-role, with Sara Jakubiak, Yulia Matochkina, John Relyea, Lucas Meachem, and Philip Cokorinos rounding out the cast in Kaspar Holten’s production.

Ildebrando D’Arcangeloo returns to LA Opera as the title role in Don Giovanni, leading a dazzling ensemble of singers including Ana María Martínez, Janai Brugger, and Morris Robinson.

Francesca Zambello’s production of Aida is “eye-catching and unforgettable”, and stars Liudmyla Monastyrska as Aida, Gregory Kunde, Ekaterina Semenchuk, Craig Colclough, Eric Owens, and Kevin Short.
