James Conlon returns to Chicago’s Ravinia Festival 8/9 and 8/11

James returns to Chicago’s Ravinia Festival for his first (scheduled) appearances with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra since concluding his tenure as the Festival’s music director in 2015. Last year, he graciously stepped in to lead the orchestra in two concerts on behalf of a sick Christoph Eschenbach with just four days notice.

On 8/9, he leads the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in a program of Stravinsky’s Suite from Pulcinella, Strauss’ Suite from Le Bourgeois gentilhomme, and Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 20 with pianist Garrick Ohlssohn.

On 8/11, the program will feature soprano Nadine Sierra and tenor Bryan Hymel singing selections from Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor and orchestral selections from Rossini operas including William TellSemiramide, and The Barber of Seville.
